What "AI readiness" actually means

Readiness has very little to do with technology. Nearly every local business already has the tools available; what varies is whether the surrounding conditions let those tools produce anything. The assessment scores four of those conditions.

Do you have a working offer?

Automation multiplies what already works. A business with customers who return and refer gets compounding value from marketing automation. A business whose offer has not landed yet gets a faster route to the same disappointing result, which is why we generally advise pre-launch businesses to wait.

Can an enquiry actually convert?

This is where most local businesses lose the most, and it is the cheapest thing to fix. Across the 622 local business websites we audited, 51.0% had no click-to-call link and a similar share had no working booking path outside office hours. Sending more traffic into that is spending money to lose it more efficiently.

Can search engines and AI assistants identify you?

77.8% of the sites we audited carried no LocalBusiness structured data — the markup that tells Google, ChatGPT and Perplexity what a business is and where it operates. A business that software cannot categorise is not a candidate for recommendation, however good it is.

Is there someone to own it?

Not to do the work, but to make decisions and approve what goes out. Automation without an owner drifts, and reviews get answered in a voice nobody chose. This is the dimension owners most often underestimate.

What your score means

A low score is not a reason to buy anything. It usually points at one or two structural fixes worth doing first, most of which cost nothing but attention. A high score means the conditions are in place and automation will compound rather than paper over.

For findings specific to your business rather than a score, the free audit runs the same technical checks against your actual site and returns a written report.

Why we built this rather than a lead form

Most assessments on agency websites are questionnaires whose result is always "you need help". This one can tell you the opposite, and frequently does. A business with a strong offer, a working booking path and someone to own the process usually does not need an agency to start — it needs a fortnight of focused attention on things that cost nothing.

What to do with a low score

Resist buying software. A low score almost always points at one structural problem, and adding tools on top of it is how businesses end up paying monthly for something that never produced anything. Fix the structural item first, re-run the assessment, and see whether the picture has changed.

What to do with a high score

A high score means automation will compound rather than paper over. That is the point at which paying for it is a reasonable decision, and it is also the point at which doing it yourself becomes genuinely viable — the constraint is usually consistency over months, not capability.
